What is Besan
Instructions:
Gram flour (besan) is made by milling split bengal gram to a fine flour. Also known as gram flour in many recipes. It is a fine, pale yellow flour made from roasted chana dal (Cictrarietinum). Besan is used as a batter for deep frying and in soups. It is traditionally used in batters for vegetable fritters (pakoras) and savories working as a binding agent. Many Indian sweets are made from besan. It is to an Indian kitchen what egg is to a western kitchen. Indian besan has been roasted prior to milling.

Directions To Use :
Chick Pea Flours a wonder flour in the Indian kitchen. It is what eggs are to a western kitchen. We use it to make vegetarian omelets. Mix 1/2 and 1/2 with organic buttermilk pancake mix to make a more nutritious pancake. Add to soups as a thickener. Use the flour as a batter for deep frying.

Notes :
The flour, milled from hulled and roasted kala chana and called variously chickpea flour, gram flour or besan, is second only to wheat flour in popularity. It is not only protein-rich, but flavorsome, adding distinctive character to pakora batter, vegetable koftas and yogurt karhi sauce.

It is a suitable for Glutten Free Diet.

In India, used as a binding agent for Koftas, kebabs(meatballs or vegetable balls), in a batter for fritters and as the base for countless savory snacks, It is a substitute for eggs and crumbs as displayed in the popular snack Bonda (spiced potato curry balls dipped in a batter of besan and deep fried), It forms the base for many Indian sweets.

Besan is also used as a kitchen beauty ingredient. Indian women regularly make homemade face packs to use as a face scrub and toner, mixed with milk or water. It has natural bleaching qualities.
