Some information on Tomatoes
Instructions:
Tomatoes are now eaten freely throughout the world, although their seeds cannot be digested and pass straight through the human intestines. Today, their consumption is believed to benefit the heart. Lycopene, one of nature's most powerful antioxidants, is present in tomatoes and has been found to be beneficial in preventing prostate cancer, among other things.

Botanically a fruit, the tomato has been deemed by the U.S. federal court as a vegetable to place tariffs. Besides, it's more likely to be part of a sauce or a salad than eaten whole as a snack, let alone as part of a dessert (though, depending on the variety, they can be quite sweet, especially roasted).

Tomatoes are used extensively in Indian, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisines, especially Italian ones. The tomato has an acidic property that is used to bring out other flavors. This same acidity makes tomatoes especially easy to preserve in home canning as tomato sauce or paste.
In Indian Cuisine Tomato is used to make the gravy in the Curries.

Lycopene (molecular formula: C40H56) is a bright red carotenoid pigment, a phytochemical found in tomatoes and other red fruits.
Lycopene is the most common carotenoid in the human body and is one of the most potent carotenoid antioxidants. Its name is derived from the tomato's species classification, Solanum lycopersicum.
Fruits and vegetables that are high in lycopene include not only tomatoes, but watermelon, pink grapefruit, papaya, and rosehip.
Unlike other fruits and vegetables, where nutritional content such as vitamin C is diminished upon cooking, processing of tomatoes increases the concentration of bioavailable lycopene.
Thus processed tomato products such as tomato juice, soup, sauce, and ketchup contain the highest concentrations of lycopene.
There is evidence that frequent intake of such products is associated with reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, cancer (especially prostate cancer), diabetes, osteoporosis, and even male infertility.

However if you suffer from Gout, then it is likely to aggrevate the pain.
