Ingredients:
2 Cups Basmati Rice ( washed and soaked in water for 30 minutes)
Chana Dal 4 tablespoons (washed and soaked in water for 30 minutes)
2 sliced Onions ( Medium)
2 Carrots ( cut in long strips)
2 Potatoes cubed
1 Tomato Diced
Turmeric 1/2 teaspoon
Garam Masala 1 teaspoon
Ginger paste 1 teaspoon
Coriander chopped 2 Tablespoons
Jeera (Cumin) Seeds 1 Teaspoon
Bay Leaf ( Tej Patta) 2 Nos
Salt to Taste
Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon
Green Chilli 1 chopped
Instructions:
1. Take a heavy bottomed sauce pan.
2. Heat oil and add the jeera and let it cracke.
3. Add the Tej Patta.
4. Add the Channa Dal and let it fry for 3 minutes while stirring.
4. Add the Red chilli powder and stir.
5. Add the Onions and cook for three minute or so while stirring.
6. Add Turmeric and then add the Ginger Paste and stir.
7. Add the Potatoes and cook for 5 minutes while stirring.
8. Add the Carrots and cook for a minute
9. Add the Garam Masala and cook for a minute.
10. Now add the Rice and stir them for 2 -3 minutes.
11. Now add water to cover the rice and vegetables completely.
12. Reduce the heat and cover the sauce pan with a lid.
13. Let it cook for about 7 minutes on slow heat.
14. Once the rice is completely cooked take it off the heat.
15. Garnish it with the Chopped Coriander and Green Chilli.
Serve it with Raita and Pickle .
